Explanation:

In literature works especially in poetry, the voice refers to the style in which an author decides his or her poem is to be told. This voice belongs to the speaker of the piece of poetry. The speaker of this Shakespearean sonnet is assumed to be an old person addressing his beloved discussing decay and death through the use of seasonal imagery and his love. Although this sonnet was written by Shakespeare, it is of great importance to mention that a poetic voice does not necessarily mean that the author is the one speaking, rather it is the poet created by the author who is speaking. Accordingly, the voice describes his or her feelings and perspectives not the author's. The exception is of course when the author is speaking.
