We need to focus on ‘what the text says’ during our second reading.

Answer: Option A

Explanation:

Reading is one of the four major skills in the process of Communication. The other three being listening, speaking and writing in the acronym LSRW. In order to comprehend a text fully we must read it twice. On our second reading we must focus on what the text says.

This will help us to analyse the text and focusing on what the text says is known as the ‘look back strategy’. This helps the Reader to understand the specific information required from the text. The subject matter of the text becomes distinct and clear.

What type of context clue in the sentence can be used to determine the meaning of guile?
valkas [14]

The type of context clues used the sentence that can help us determine the meaning of "guile" is an antonym clue, as further explained below.

What are context clues?

We can define context clues as pieces of information provided by authors in their text that help us figure out the meaning of new and unfamiliar words. Examples of context clues are:

 • Synonyms
 • Antonyms
 • Examples
 • Inferences
 • Definitions

In the sentence "Andrea's opponent was honest and straightforward, but Andrea used her guile to win the contest," we can determine the meaning of "guile" by using an antonym context clue.

Antonyms are words that have opposite meanings and, in the sentence, "guile" has the opposite meaning of "honest" and "straightforward." We know that because the author uses the word "but" when comparing Andrea to her opponent.

With the information above in mind, we can conclude that the answer provided is correct.

The missing sentence is the following:

Andrea's opponent was honest and straightforward, but Andrea used her guile to win the contest.

Die and pass away Which connecative and which denotative? and why? with exaplination please
PilotLPTM [1.2K]

Answer: Die is a denotative word and pass away is a connect word

Explanation: This is because die is the literal meaning of pass away so it is denotative.

While, pass away is a connecative word because it is a conjuction of two words, it is used just when we do not want to say a being has died. So pass away will literally mean die.
