Tell whether x and y show direct variation. xy=5

Mathematics

Form of direct variation looks like y = kx, where k is any constant number (2, 3/4, 1/3, etc)

So here you have xy = 5.

Divide both sides by x, and you have y = 5/x.

So it is not direct variable, it is inverse variation.

Direct variation is when a=x/y a stays constant so when x goes up, then y also goes up so lets say a=2 then 2=x/y so if x is 2 then y=1 if x is 4 then y=2

indirect variation is a=xy where when x goes down y goes up so less say a=2 then if x=2 then y=1 if x=1 then y=2

for number 9. it shows direct variation because when x goes up, y also must go up

Write nine and thirty-six hundredths with a decimal point
WINSTONCH [101]
The answer is 9.36. There is nine which equals 9, "and" means point or the decimal point and six means 6 and "hundredths" represents the position of the number which is in the hundredths place. When you count numbers to the right, you add "ths" so if there wasn't a 6 and just a 3, then it would be tenths.

A cubical container is 3/4 filled with water. It contains 4.374l of water. Find the base area of the container.
Akimi4 [234]

Answer:

The base area is 3.24 dm^3

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the total volume of the cube be x l

3/4 of this is 4.374 l

Thus, we have it that;

3/4 * x = 4.374

3x = 4 * 4.374

x = (4 * 4.374)/3

x = 5.832 L

The volume of a cube is the length of its side raised to the power of 3

Let us have the length as y

so;

y^3 = 5.832

y = cube root of 5.832

y = 1.8 dm

The area of the base is simply the side length raised to the power of 2

we have this as:

1.8 * 1.8 = 3.24 dm^2

What is the answer to h -13h+-38=27
riadik2000 [5.3K]
-13h + -38 = 27
You have to have all the h alone and in the same side.
-13h=65
You have to divide -13h by -13 to find one h
