Read the excerpt from "Raymond's Run."

Maybe she'd like to help me coach Raymond; she

obviously is serious about running, as any fool can see.

And she nods to congratulate me and then she smiles.

And I smile. We stand there with this big smile of respect

between us. It's about as real a smile as girls can do for

each other, considering we don't practice real smiling

every day, you know, cause maybe we too busy being

flowers or fairies or strawberries instead of something

honest and worthy of respect... you know ... like being

people.

The text evidence in this excerpt best supports the idea

that Squeaky  is tired of running and would rather coach.

O appreciates the strength of her competitor.

O is proud because she won the race.

O thinks people only smile a real smile when they win.

Answer:

appreciates the strength of her competitor.

Explanation:

The text evidence in this excerpt that best supports the idea that Squeaky is tired of running and would rather coach is the fact that she appreciates the strength of her competitor.

According to the excerpt, Squeaky sees that Raymond is "serious as running" and Raymond nodded her congratulations and smiled at her which shows that Raymond was happy for Squeaky because she won the race and because of it, she appreciates her strength of character.

When his father was ready with cane,he _______to having stolen the ring.(phrase and idioms)
Zanzabum

Answer:

Owned up

Explanation:

As a result of the topic being idioms/phrases, the best word that completes the sentence is the idiom "owned up".

Another word that would have sufficed would be "admitted" but unfortunately, it isn't an idiom, so the idiom "owned up" is the correct answer.

The idiom "own up" means admitting to something.

"When his father was ready with cane,he OWNED UP to having stolen the ring."
