The influenza virus, commonly referred to as the flu, is an RNA virus that infects birds and mammals. Upon infecting a host cell

, the virus copies its RNA genome using a viral polymerase. Once the RNA is copied, it is translated by the host cell into the viral proteins needed to package additional viral particles. There are three strains of influenza, but most humans in the United States are infected with strain A. This particular strain constantly changes, due to the high mutation rate of the RNA copying machinery and the ability of the viral RNA segments to undergo reassortments. Although there are different influenza vaccines offered each year, it is estimated that the influenza virus still infects between 5% and 20% of the United States' population annually. Which characteristic of the influenza virus best explains why there is a different influenza vaccine offered each year?

Answer: New vaccines are offered each year because the virus changes.

Explanation: The flue viral strain constantly changes its genetic make up, a process called antigenic drift. As the virus replicates there are small changes that creates new strains which evolve to a completely different influenza virus requiring a new type of vaccine each year.

Answer:

The answer is: The influenza viral evolves rapidly.

Explanation:

The explanation is that the virus that produces influenza mutates rapidly into a new form, and it is because of these mutations that the vaccine that is found at a certain moment becomes ineffective, and that is why the vaccine against viral influenza needs to be continuously synthesized, at the same production rate at which the virus mutates.

written description of how carbon moves through the biosphere, atmosphere, hydrosphere, and geosphere.
Anna35 [415]
Carbon is present in the biosphere and other systems of the planet and is an essential part of life. Carbon moves through these systems by feeding the heterotrophs of other organisms, through the consumption of dead organisms. When oxygen is present, there is aerobic respiration, which releases carbon dioxide into the surrounding air or water. It plays an important role in the structure, biochemistry, and nutrition of all living cells.

Write a description of how the animal cell transports water?
Fynjy0 [20]
Osmosis then is the movement of water particles from which has water and from which has not and to provide it with the sufficient H2O.

The concentration of salt in water affects the rate of osmosis because it will determine how much water should be transported or excreted or to be taken in. The cellular process is keen to the salt concentration of its system thus making sure to maintain balance between the salt concentration the right amount of water must also be in its area of release for any expected occurences.

In carbon dioxide (CO2), there are two oxygen atoms for each carbon atom. Each oxygen atom forms a double bond with carbon, so t
Sever21 [200]

Explanation:

Carbon has four electrons in its outer most orbit and it can share four more electrons from other atom to complete its valency while oxygen has 6 electrons in its outermost orbit and it can either charge the electron or gain two electrons from other atom.

Therefore in CO2_, the carbon atom shares its two electrons with two electrons of each oxygen atom and forms double bond with it. Thus, total pairs of electron to be shared by the atom of the molecule is two.
