35/1 x 2/5 = 70/5 = 14

3) 6 19/40 of ribbon left

Simply subtract 2/5 from 6 7/8! To do this, turn 6 7/8 into an improper function, and find the LCD.

55/8 - 2/5 = ?

LCD = 40

275/40 - 16/40 = 259/40 = 6 19/40
