In "A Worn Path", Old Phoenix Jackson was able to hit the dog her cane before falling into a ditch. She waits until a young white hunter shows up and helps her out of the ditch. He is demeaning at first about her age, then shows prejudice because he says “I know you old colored people…wouldn’t miss going to town to see Santa Claus!”

She sees a nickel has fallen out of the hunter's pocket, and before taking it, she distracts him by saying that his big black dog isn't afraid of anything. Not only does he chase it off to prove her wrong, but also points a gun at her at an attempt to assert power.

Phoenix Jackson, or an old African-American woman on "A Worn path" who wanders into the city.

Further Explanation

In the story "The road is worn out", an old woman named Phoenix Jackson said on a cold day in December.

Phoenix Jackson, or an old African-American woman on "A Worn path" who wanders into the city.She has a wrinkled face and shoes that are not tied.

The character of Phoenix Jackson is an old African-American woman who uses a thin little stick made of umbrellas to touch the ground that helps her walk.

The paths give way to the city, which is decorated for Christmas and filled with people who are crowded by Phoenix as they conduct their business.

After this, she found a dog, who barked at her. She hit the dog with her stick and she herself fell into the ditch.

She met a hunter, pocketed the nickel he dropped.

Finally, she arrived at a stone building and climbed the stairs. The receptionist asked her lots of questions. Then a nurse came and asked a question to Phoenix. Phoenix replied that her granddaughter had throat problems.

Fortunately, a nurse recognized Phoenix immediately as a grandmother who often traveled long distances to the city to get medicine for her grandson who was suffering from alkali poisoning.

The doctor asks the nurse to give Phoenix medicine.

The story ends with Phoenix arriving in the city after completing the journey. Finally, she brought medicine and returned home.

Her motivation for doing so was also revealed when she regretted how her grandson swallowed alkali which damaged his throat. She traveled to get medicine for her grandchildren who had a sore throat.

Phoenix decided that she would buy her grandson a paper windmill to take home with her with the medicine.

Write a report of 6 sentences about how can humans protect the environment from pollution
Ipatiy [6.2K]

Answer:

Humans can protect the environment by doing lots of things to help the earth! One way you can help protect the environment is to not litter. Did you know that most people who deliberately litter are 18-34. 75% of people admit that they have littered in the past 5 years. 9 billion tons of litter ends up in the ocean every year! Another way to help protect the environment is to not waste water. Water is very important. The average family can waste 180 gallons per week, or 9,400 gallons of water annually, from household leaks. That's equivalent to the amount of water needed to wash more than 300 loads of laundry. Household leaks can waste approximately nearly 900 billion gallons of water annually nationwide! Let’s help save the environment!

A baby crawled 50 1 /4 yards in
shutvik [7]

Answer:

x = 2.45 yards

Explanation:

Given the following data;

Distance = 50¼ yards = 201/4 = 50.25 yards

Time = 20½ minutes = 20.5

To find the distance covered in a minute;

50.25 yards = 20.5 minutes

x yards = 1 minute

Cross-multiplying, we have;

x * 20.5 = 50.25 * 1

20.5x = 50.25

x = 50.25/20.5

x = 2.45 yards

Method II.

201/4 yards = 41/2 minutes

x yards = 1 minute

Cross-multiplying, we have;

x * 41/2 = 201/4

41x/2 = 201/4

41x * 4 = 201 * 2

164x = 402

x = 402/164 = 201/82 = 2 37/82 yards

The main argumentative appeal in Churchill’s speech is
german
In his speech, Churchill both recognizes the valor and courage shown by the British military at the retreat of Dunkirk and acknowledges that the mission almost ended in a complete military disaster. Throughout his address, Churchill chooses his words with extreme care. He makes the distinction that the retreat at Dunkirk was not a military victory for the Allies but a “miracle of deliverance.” His clarification makes clear to his audience, the House of Commons and by extension the British people, that Great Britain still faces an uphill battle. They still suffered a heavy loss in France and Belgium, losing over 30,000 men as well as losing nearly one thousand guns, and all of the transport and armored vehicles that were with the stranded troops at Dunkirk. Yet even when describing the bleak state of affairs of the war, Churchill keeps his message of hope and victory alive through his description of the brave feats taken by the British military to perform the Evacuation of Dunkirk.
