Mexico at first did not allow the people of Texas to own slaves. After winning independence and however, Texas allowed slavery. Once slavery was allowed, after a few years of independence, texas asked to enter the US as a slave state.
So Texas went from a territory of Mexico that had slavery banned to a state in the US with slavery (after independence)

It was the last of the set to be unveiled on 24 May 1887. A statue of Burns was deemed relevant to the city, both because of the city's Scottish roots (it was founded by the Free Church of Scotland in 1848), and also because one of the city's founding fathers was Rev. Thomas Burns, a nephew of the poet.
The Roman Empire's fall was largely due to the army being spread too thin to defend the growing territory. The army could not recruit fast enough to secure the huge increases in territory. Also the relocation of men from their domestic lives within the city to the mobile army bases caused a lack of day to day workers within the city. The economy suffered as result.
