Verbal consent, if proved, is as binding as written consent because there is no legal requirement that a patient's consent be in writing. . A written consent form should be used when the proposed treatment may involve unusual risks for the patient. This written consent provides written proof of the patient's wishes and should contain all of the risks, benefits and consequences. Implied consent covers unconscious patients who aren't able to give consent. The procedure is performed with the thought that patient would have given consent if they were able to.
