Juliette [100K]

The statement is false.

Mapping of the Republic of Letters shows that Benjamin Franklin's correspondence, while he was in Europe, crossed the Atlantic more times than Voltaire's.

What was the significance of the Republic of Letters project?

The Republic of Letters is the long-distance intellectual community inside the late seventeenth and 18th centuries in Europe and the Americas. It fostered verbal exchange between the various intellectuals of the Age of Enlightenment or philosophes as they have been referred to in France.

Franklin's proposed alphabet protected seven letters to represent vowels. This set consisted of new letters, further to 5 letters from the present English alphabet: a, e, i, o, u. the first new letter was fashioned as a ligature of the letters o and a and used to represent the sound [ɔ] (as written in IPA).

Explain the the Harlem Renaissance and it’s relationship to the larger Civil Rights Movement of later decades.
Step2247 [10]
The Harlem Renaissance took place at a time when European and white American writers and artists were particularly interested in African American artistic production, in part because of their interest in the “primitive.”Modernist primitivism was a multifaceted phenomenon partly inspired by Freudian psychology, but it tended to extol so-called “primitive” peoples as enjoying a more direct and authentic relationship to the natural world and to simple human feeling than so-called “over-civilized” whites. They therefore were presumed by some to hold the key to the renovation of the arts. Early in the twentieth century, European avant-garde artists including Pablo Picasso (1881–1974) had been inspired in part by African masks to break from earlier representational styles toward abstraction in painting and sculpture. The prestige of these revolutionary experiments caused African American intellectuals to look on African artistic traditions with new appreciation and to imagine new forms of self-representation, a desire reinforced by rising interest in black history. Black History Week, now Black History Month, was first celebrated in 1928 at the instigation of the historian Carter G. Woodson (1875–1950).

As a result of the Supreme Court decision in Baker v. Carr, courts can require states to keep voting districts the same even if
katrin2010 [14]

Answer: redraw voting districts that are roughly equal in population

Explanation:

In Baker v. Carr (1962), held that Tennessee had infringed the constitutional right of equal protection and forced its legislature to reapportion itself based on population. Before that, rural areas had been overrepresented when compared to urban and suburban areas, especially in the South. Although this case didn´t change electoral districts immediatly, it did set a precedent about federal courts addressing redistricting, and by 1964, in Wesberry v. Sanders and Reynolds v. Sims, the United States House of Representatives and the state legislatures were required to establish electoral districts of equal population based on the idea of one man, one vote.
