The volcanoes of Catopaxi and Llullaillaco are both of the stratovolcano type.
The startovolcano type of volcanoes are conical-shaped. They are composed of steeply-dipping layers of lava, as well as ashes that have been hardened, and many other material that have been erupted through the main vent of the volcano.
Both of these volcanoes have the characteristics of stratovolcanoes, and that can also be easily noticed when someone observes them on a picture or at a map, because they are separate entities not connected with any other physical feature that sticks out in the area. They are cone shaped and stand on their own, with clearly marked boundaries of their features.
Catopaxi and Llullaillacona are volcanoes located in South America, in the western part of the continent. They are part of the ''Ring of Fire'', and they are both active volcanoes.
