Gautama Buddha had five dreams before attaining enlightenment. Each dream had a symbolic meaning. These dreams appeared to Buddha while he still was a Bodhisattva. The first dream meant that He would achieve enlightenment, the second meant that He would understand the path to enlightenment would also teach it to others. The third dream meant that people would come to Buddha for refuge. The fourth dream meant that people from all the four section of Indian society would come to explore Dhamma. And the fifth dream meant that he would get clothing food and accommodation in the form of donations and he would not become attached to these.
