Answer:

The property of some metabolic pathways that enables them to serve multiple functions in the breakdown, synthesis, and conversion of metabolites is known as amphibolism.

Explanation:

Amphibolism are all intermediate reactions, where catabolism meets anabolism. Catabolism are the "degradation" reactions, that is, starting from large complex molecules (carbohydrates, lipids, proteins) from food or from reservoirs, simple molecules are produced (lactic acid, CO2, NH3...) intermediates of numerous metabolic reactions (metabolites). These reactions yield energy in the form of ATP. On the other hand, anabolism is the set of metabolic reactions in which more complex molecules are synthesized from simple compounds. These reactions consume the energy contributed by the ATP generated in catabolism. Amphibolism or intermediate metabolism, is the set of reactions in which the hydrolysis products of catabolism and some nutrients are transformed into organic acids, phosphoric esters and other compounds as amino acids, that is, both processes of degradation (breakdown) and synthesis of molecules are presented, there is a mutual regulation.

Answer:

The property of some metabolic pathways that enables them to serve multiple functions in the breakdown, synthesis, and conversion of metabolites is known as amphibolism.

Explanation:

Amphibolic pathways are the biochemical pathways which have both catabolic (breakdown ,conversion to metabolites) and anabolic functions (synthesis)

For example:

 • Pentose Phosphate Pathway
 • TCA cycle
 • Embden-Meyerhof pathway

Why does net productivity diminish with increasing trophic levels??
geniusboy [140]
Due to the bad trophic efficiency transfer, there is a loss in the consumption of most energy to cellular respiration at trophic levels. It also loses energy to heat, metabolism and other subsistence for biomass production. There is a higher energy loss when it is at higher trophic levels.

Lana71 [14]

Answer: The statement is correct in scientific sense.

Explanation:

Adaptation refers to the traits or characteristics posses by living organisms which enable the organisms to be better fitted to survive, and reproduce in it's environment.

Adaptation is an evolutionary process I.e. features are evolved by the organisms to be better suited in it's environment.

From the statement, an individual crab develop characteristics that enable it to change its position which enable it upright stance to further adapt to life in land.

In a person with MCAD deficiency, if the body has excess glucose stores, which electron transfer intermediates are likely to acc
madam [21]

Answer:

In high glucose-NADH and FADH2

In depletion case- NAD+ and FAD+2.

Explanation:

MCAD (Medium-chain acyl-CoA dehydrogenase) deficiency may be defined as inherited disorder in which the body's ability to breakdown the fat decreases and converting them in energy.

Excess glucose stores: The presence of excess glucose prevents the proton gradient to transfer electrons in the electron transport chain. This causes the buildup of NADH and FADH2.

Low energy state: This state needs ATP that decrease the carriers and causes the buildup of NAD+ and FAD+2.
