Answer:

I would own up to what I had done so that I wouldn't be leaving my friends behind. I'd probably get into a lot of trouble but at least I wouldn't have that guilt on my conscious. Honest is always the best policy. I would be upset about getting in trouble but at least I'd stick to my own code of honor.
