The volume of a cylinder is the area of the circular face times the length of the cylinder.

the area of a circular face is
A=\pi r^2 = \pi\frac{d^2}{4}

hence the volume is
V= \pi r^2 L = \pi \frac{d^2}{4} L

the Length "L" is 36 in
the diameter "d" is 3 in

Solve the system of equations
12x-5y=-20
y=x+4

x=_______

y=_______
pashok25 [27]

Answer:

x = 0

y = 4

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

12x - 5y = -20

y = x + 4

Substitute x + 4 for y in the first equation

12x - 5(x + 4) = -20

Expand the bracket

12x -5 X x - 5 x 4 = -20

12x - 5x - 20 = -20

7x - 20 = -20

Add 20 to both sides to eliminate -20 on the left side

7x - 20 + 20 = -20 + 20

7x = 0

Divide both sides by 7 to isolate x

7x/7 = 0/7

x = 0

Substitute 0 for x in either equation to get y

Using equation 2, we have

y = x + 4

= 0 + 4

= 4

x = 0

y = 4

The area of a rectangular concrete patio is 70 square meters. the perimeter is 34 meters. what are the dimensions of the patio?
Finger [1]
A = L * W
A = 70

70 = L * W

P = 2(L + W)
P = 34

34 = 2(L + W)
34/2 = L + W
17 = L + W
17 - W = L

70 = L * W
L = 17 - W

70 = W(17 - W)
70 = -W^2 + 17W
W^2 - 17W + 70 = 0
(W - 10)(W - 7) = 0

W - 10 = 0        L = 17 - 10
W = 10              L = 7

W - 7 = 0          L = 17 - 7
W = 7               L = 10

so either the width is 10 meters and the length is 7 meters OR the width is 7 meters and the length is 10 meters
