Given equation is : $x^{2}-4=0$

Solving it we get,

$x^{2}=4$

$\sqrt{x}=\sqrt{4}$ and $\sqrt{x}=-\sqrt{4}$

This gives $x=2$ and $x=-2$ or we can say the roots are $(x+2)(x-2)$

Here Stefan is right, the root has a multiplicity of 1.
