Among the problems that militarism causes we can cite the idea that guns are the solution to any political impasse. Thus, any problem of frontier, territorial dispute or diplomatic discussion can lead (as it did in the last century) in armed conflicts. Countries were less likely to use diplomacy to solve conflict.

I would know about John Marshall. He was a federalist supreme court chief justice. He gave more power to the government by taking a loose construction of the Constitution. So basically he said, "If it doesnt say we (Fed Gov't) cant do it, then we can)".
