<h3>For 22 kilometers, the two companies charge the same total fare</h3><h3>The total fare is $ 48</h3>

<em><u>Solution:</u></em>

Let "x" be the kilometers travelled

<em><u>For, Mr buchanan, the first cost $26 upfront and $1 per kilometer</u></em>

Therefore,

Cost : 26 + 1x ------- eqn 1

<em><u>The second costs $4 plus $2 per kilometer</u></em>

Therefore,

Cost : 4 + 2x -------- eqn 2

<em><u>For a certain driving distance, the two companies charge the same total fare</u></em>

Therefore, eqn 1 must be equal to eqn 2

26 + 1x = 4 + 2x

2x - 1x = 26 - 4

x = 22

Thus, for 22 kilometers, the two companies charge the same total fare

<em><u>What is the total fare?</u></em>

Substitute x = 22 in eqn 2

Cost: 4 + 2(22) = 4 + 44 = 48

Thus total fare is $ 48

Solve for x.<br> y = (5+x}m<br> Answer?
Tanzania [10]

Answer:

x=ym−4

Step-by-step explanation:

y=(4+x)m

Here we have one equation with three unknowns. This cannot be "solved". We can only express one variable in terms of the other two.

Let's isolate x.

Divide through by m

ym=4+x

x=ym−4

(I really hope this helps)

F the value of x decreases by 6, how does the value of m(x + 9) change?
Yuki888 [10]

start with y= m(x+9)

Use the distributive property:

y= mx+9m

Now you want x to decrease by 6:

so y ' = m(x-6) + 9m

Use distributive property again:

y'= mx - 6m + 9m

y' = (mx+9m) - 6m

y' = y - 6m

So the value of y decreases by 6m.

Determine if the following statements are true or false. If true give a reason or cite a theorem and if false, give a counter ex
DiKsa [7]

Answer:

a. False the series \sum\limits_{i=1}^\infty (-1)^nis bounded but does not converge

b. False, xₙ = n + (-1)ⁿ⁻¹(n - 1) does not diverge to infinity but it is not bounded for n ≥ 1

c. False some bounded sequences are divergent

An example of divergent sequences, aₙ, and bₙ, such that aₙ + bₙ converges is a_n = \sum\limits_{n} \dfrac{1}{n} , \, b_n =  \sum\limits_{n} \dfrac{-1}{n}

\sum\limits_{n} \dfrac{1}{n} + \sum\limits_{n} \dfrac{-1}{n} is convergent
