If the altitude of an isosceles right triangle has a length of x units, what is the length of one leg of the large right triangl
SVETLANKA909090 [29]

the picture in the attached figure

we know that

if ABC is an isosceles triangle

then

AB=BC

angle A=angle C=45 degrees

and

triangle ABD and triangle BDC also are isosceles triangles

AD=BD=x

DC=BD=x

the hypotenuse AC is equal to

AC=AD+DC\\ AC=x+x\\ AC=2x

To find the length AB applying the Pythagorean Theorem

AC^{2} =AB^{2} +BC^{2}

remember that AB=BC

AC^{2} =2AB^{2}

AC^{2} =2AB^{2}\\\\ AB=\frac{AC}{\sqrt{2}}\\\\ AB=\frac{2x}{\sqrt{2}}\\\\ AB=x\sqrt{2}

therefore

the answer is

the length of one leg of the large right triangle in terms of x is equal to x\sqrt{2}

Parallelogram Q T S R is shown. Sides Q T and R S are parallel, and sides Q R and T S are parallel. Angle Q is (9 x minus 6) deg
jenyasd209 [6]

Answer:

m<Q = 93 degrees

m<R = 87 degrees

Step-by-step explanation:

Given the following angles;

m<Q = 9x-6

m<R = 8x-1

Looking at Devin's work, we will see that he the sum of both angles is 180 degrees

Hence m<Q + m<R = 180

9x - 6 + 8x - 1 = 180

9x+8x-6-1 = 180

17x - 7 = 180

17x = 180 + 7

17x = 187

x = 187/17

x = 11

Get m<Q

m<Q = 9x - 6

m<Q = 9(11) - 6

m<Q = 99 - 6

m<Q = 93 degrees

Get m<R

m<R = 180 - m<Q

m<R = 180 - 93

m<R = 87degrees

Suppose you have a coin collection of dimes and quarters containing 46 coins. If you have 6.70 dollars, how many of each type of
NNADVOKAT [17]

Answer:

The number of dimes = 32

The number of quarters  = 14

Step-by-step explanation:

Here, the total number of coins combined = 46

Let us assume the number of dimes = m

So, the Number of quarter = Total Coins - Number of dimes  = 46 - m

Now,as we know:

1 dime = $0.1

So, m dimes  = m x ($0.1) = $(0.1 m)

1 Quarter  = $0.25

So, ( 46 - m ) Quarters  = (46 - m ) x ( $ 0.25)   = 11.5 - 0.25 m

Also, given the total amount of coins = $ 6.70

⇒ Value of (Dimes + Quarters) = $ 6.70

or, (0.1 m) +  11.5 - 0.25 m  = 6.70

-0.15 m = - 4.8

or, m = 4.8/0.15  =  32

⇒ m = 32

Hence, the number of dimes = m = 32

And the number of quarters  = 46 - m= 46 -32 = 14
