<em>The Washington industries that grew during World War II were all of the above. Industries such as shipbuilding, aircraft production, and aluminum production grew so much because were used in the production of war machines, weaponry, ships, and airplanes. </em>

For instance, President Franklin D. Roosevelt ordered the production of thousands of planes for the war. By 1944, the United States produced almost 95 planes in a year. Goods such as gasoline and rubber were rationed because were separated to use in the war effort.
