In United States medical assistants are the necessary part of the health care system. They are providing both clinical care and administrative support in the medial facilities. Medical assistant plays a vital role as they work in administration at the front desk and perform clinical tasks i.e to provide direct care to patients. There are three criteria which observed the increasing need for medical assistants

1. Aging population is increasing and hence the demands of health care services increased. Medical assistants are needed to assist with providing care and performing administrative tasks within health care institutions and facilities.

2. In United States specifically there has been an Increase in chronic diseases  and in chronic health conditions. For example diabetes, heart disease and autoimmune conditions. To manage these chronic conditions increases the demand on health care systems required medical assistants.

3.There is another important important factor that is to control health care costs. As medical assistants gets a low salary than the registered or licensed practical nurses that is why many institutions and doctors offices hire the medical assistant to handle administrative and routine medical tasks for cost controlling.
