1) On the other hand, the narrator had reasons to believe that the two boys were playmates. First of all, the two of them were obviously dressed alike which suggested the equality they shared.

2) The narrator was an easy prey to deceptions. When he saw the white man, the father of the two boys, watching the game, he thought that he could be shocked at the sight of a black boy giving orders to a white. The thought amused the narrator.

3) When the narrator watched the game the next morning, he felt greatly relieved. He saw that the boys had been playing a game because this time it was the black boy who gave orders and it was the white boy who obeyed..RACISM IS NOT FOUND IN A CHILD’S MIND – IT IS A CREATION OF THE COMPLEX ADULT.
