The Royal Proclamation was issued in 1763 by Great Britain. It happened right after the French and Indian War. It was issued to limit the conflict between the Native American Indians and the colonial settlers. The land was promised to the Native Americans as land they could use to hunt with and live on. The Proclamation of 1763 forbade settlers from settling anywhere past the line drawn along the Appalachian Mountains.
