In 1937 was the year when the Second Sino-Japanese War began. The conflict began when Japan, which already controlled Manchuria decided to conquer China and initiated the invasion in the north and east of China. The purpose of Japan, aid by Germany in the context of the Second World War was to invade the Chinese capital Nanjing and expands its territory.
China, on the other hand, was helped by the United States and the Soviet Union. The war was the most devastating Asian conflict of the 20th century and it comprises 90% of the casualties of the Pacific War.
The rough terrain blocked its extension into eastern lands. The seas kept it from connecting with northern lands. The river systems blocked passage along the trade routes. The <u>mountains forced it to follow a central route.</u>
