Answer:

the three boxes should be filled with

2 8 -12

respectively

Step-by-step explanation:

The general equation of the parabola in this problem is

y = a(x-h)^2 + k

vertex is at (-2, -20), => k=-20, h = 2

so the equation is

y = a(x+2)^2 - 20

To have y-intercept = -12, we set x = 0

-12 = a(0+2)^2 - 20

a(2^2) = 8

a = 2

therefore the equation of the parabola is

y = 2 (x+2)^2 -20 = 2x^2 + 8x - 12

the three boxes should be filled with

2 8 -12

respectively

Find the zero of the function by rewriting the function in intercept form
Marat540 [252]
Given a quadratic function
y = 4x² - 19x - 5
or i will write it as
4x² - 19x - 5 = y

Zero of the function is when y have the value of zero.
So the quadratic equation will be
4x² - 19x - 5 = y
4x² - 19x - 5 = 0

Now make the equation to intercept form by factorization
4x² - 19x - 5 = 0
(4x + 1)(x - 5) = 0   (this is intercept form)

Solution 1
4x + 1 = 0
4x = -1
x = -1/4

Solution 2
x - 5 = 0
x = 5

SUMMARY
-1/4 and 5 are zero function of f(x) = 4x² - 19x - 5

determine the slope of two consecutive sides are parallel, perpendicular or neither(-1,2) (4,4) (2,-1) (-3,-3)
PtichkaEL [24]

Answer: parallel

Step-by-step explanation:

Given the following coordinate

(-1,2) (4,4) and (2,-1) (-3,-3)

Two parallel lines will surely have the same slope. While the product of the two perpendicular lines will be equal to negative one.

Let's find the slope of the coordinate.

Slope m can be expressed as

M = (Y2 -Y1)/( X2 - X1)

For coordinate (-1,2) (4,4)

Slope m = ( 4 - 2 ) / (4 + 1)

Slope m = 2/5

For coordinate (2,-1) (-3,-3)

Slope m = ( -3 +1 ) / ( -3 -2 )

Slope m = -2/ -5

Slope m = 2/5

Since the two slope are the same, we can conclude that the two lines are parallel to each other.
