If striated muscles contract rapidly for longer duration, it can cause muscular fatigue. Intense exercise causes the striated muscles to contract rapidly, which leads to the decrease of the force-generating capacity. It also causes the accumulation of lactic acid, which is said to be the cause of the fatigue.
