How did the Zapotec use technology to their benefit? Choose two correct answers.
enyata [817]

d. Terrace farming enabled them to grow crops on mountain slopes.

e. Irrigation canals carried water from streams and springs to cities.

Explanation:

The Zapotec civilization is one of the oldest Mesoamerican civilization and it is a civilization that managed to exist fr several millenniums. It was located in the Valley of Oaxaca. The Zapotec people were among the most developed in the Americas and persisting for such a long time as a civilization is a good proof of it. Throughout the centuries and millenniums the Zapotec were in contact with the other civilizations in the region, so they managed to exchange lot of ideas and technology that benefit them a lot.

Because this civilization was thriving the population was growing more and more. Larger population means that more food is needed. In order to satisfy the needs the Zapotec started to perform terrace farming, as the mountain slopes were the only place left int heir territory for agricultural expansion. Even though the soil was not of the best quality the Zapotec managed to make a good use of this type of farming. Another method was the development of irrigation systems by creating canals from the streams and springs and bringing the water to the cities and to the farmlands.
