Answer:

1. The change from a liquid state to a gaseous state = a. boiling

2. The change from a gaseous state to a liquid state = e. condensation

3. The change from a solid state to a liquid state = f. melting

4. The change from a liquid state to a solid = g. freezing

5. The change from a solid state to a gaseous state = d. sublimation

6. The change from a gaseous state to so solid = b. deposition

7. A change of state = c. phase change

Explanation:

State changes

The balance between attractive and repulsive forces between the particles that make up a substance determines that the substance is in one state or another.

By conveniently modifying the pressure and temperature, a substance can be obtained from one state of aggregation to another.

Fusion: is the passage of a substance from the solid state to the liquid state. The reverse process, that is, the passage of a substance from the liquid state to the solid state is called Solidification.

Vaporization: is the passage of a substance from the liquid state to the gas state. This can occur in two possible ways: evaporation and boiling.

Evaporation: it is a slow vaporization that occurs only on the surface free of liquids and at any temperature. Example: in a puddle at room temperature.

The boil: is a tumultuous vaporization that is carried out throughout the mass of the liquid. For a given pressure, each liquid has a boiling temperature.

The reverse process, that is, the passage of a substance from the gas state to the liquid state is called Liquification or condensation. Energy detachment is performed by heat.

Sublimation: is the passage of a substance from the solid state to the gas state. The reverse process, that is, the passage of a substance from the gas state to the solid state is called regressive sublimation.

In cars, ethylene glycol, C2H6O2, is used as a coolant and antifreeze. A mechanic fills a radiator with 7.1 kg of ethylene glyco
WITCHER [35]
Based on the given molecular formula, the molar mass of ethylene glycol is 62 g/mol. We solve for the number of moles of the solute,
                                   n = (7.1 kg)(1000 g/ 1 kg) / 62g/mol  = 114.52 mol
Then, we divide this value by the given mass of the water in kg
                             m = (114.52 mol) / 1.2 kg = 95.43 m
Thus, the molality of the substance is approximately equal to 95.43 m.

What forms of energy are invoked when snow on a mountain breaks loose, resulting in a avalanche
lana [24]

Answer:

As water vapor rises, there is an increase in the gravitational potential energy of the system. Part of this potential energy is released as snow falls onto the mountain. If an avalanche occurs, the snow on the mountain accelerates down slope, converting more <u>gravitational potential energy to kinetic energy.</u>

A gas is confined in a 0.3m diameter cylinder by a piston, on which rests a weight. The mass of the piston is 85 kg. The local a
iris [78.8K]

Explanation:

Force applied on the gas will be as follows.

                   F_{gas} = F_{atm} + (m + M) g

As,   F = pressure × area. Hence, calculate the forces as follows.

                  F_{gas} = pressure × area

                         = 1.4 \times 10^{5} Pa \times \pi \times (\frac{0.3}{2})^{2}

                          = 1.979 \times 10^{4} N

                  F_{atm} = pressure × area

                            = 1.0133 \times 10^{5} \times \pi \times (\frac{0.3}{2})^{2}

                            = 1.432 \times 10^{4} N

      F_{gas} - F_{atm} = 5.47 \times 10^{3} N

Substituting the calculated values into the above formula as follows.

                F_{gas} = F_{atm} + (m + M) g

              F_{gas} - F_{atm} = (m + M) g

              5.47 \times 10^{3} N = (m + 85) \times 9.8

              5.47 \times 10^{3} N = 9.8m + 833

                               m = 472.76 kg

Thus, we can conclude that the mass is 472.76 kg.
