How was the scopes trial more than just a simple debate between evolution and creationism
Vikentia [17]

Answer:

In the scopes trial, Thomas Scopes was tried in court because he tried to teach the theory of evolution in Tennessee. The state was highly religious at that time, so they did not want anyone to teach theory of creation that contradicted the Bible.

On the surface, this might be seen as a case that debated evolution and creationism. But, it actually much more than that. it actually will determine whether the State has the ability to suppress knowledge/ideas in order to promote a certain Agenda.

This case became a national debate and eventually the court prohibited the states to force the teaching of a certain religion in public schools.

kondor19780726 [428]

The correct answer is - pledging to include at least 10,000 Syrian refugees fleeing civil war.

The United States responded to the Syrian migrant crisis by pledging to take in at least 10,000 refugees into the country as a humanitarian gesture. This came in to lots of criticism, especially from some of the European Union's members like Sweden, Germany, the UK, Belgium, France, which all took in much more migrants even though they are much smaller countries with much smaller populations than the United States.

Why does micheal Lewis begin his speech with humor and the request that the students give themselves a round of applause
faltersainse [42]

Lewis begin his speech with humor to engage the audience and to lighten the mood of the audience.

Explanation:

Michael Lewis began his speech with a sense of humor at the Princeton University and asked the students to give themselves a round of applause because he wanted the students to feel that they had achieved something for which they were being recognized.

He wanted the students to feel that they had worked hard to have been graduating and never forget what they had learned. In his speech, he also wanted to tell the students that they had been lucky enough to have been prepared for jobs in the market whereas when he graduated he was not ready or prepared for a job.
