Which describe the political status of Antarctica
adoni [48]
The answer is C. an unoccupied territory.

Due to its harsh climate, Antartica is non-ecumene, meaning it is uninhabited by people. Although it is unoccupied, several countries signed a treaty, each country holding territorial claims to different parts of Antarctica, some territories overlapping.

Hope this helps! :)

Highlight all instances of parallel structure. There is no longer any room for hope. If we wish to be free—if we mean to preserv
Marat540 [252]

"If we wish to be free-if we mean to preserve", "if we mean not basely to abandon" AND "which we have been so long contending", "which we have been so long engaged", "which we have pledged".

Parallelism is the repetition of the same grammatical structure. There are two instances of parallel structure in this excerpt. The first is the "If we ___ to ___" structure. The second is the "which we have _______" structure. By filling the passage with this parallel structure is gives the sense of a list of reasons that all, compounding on top of one another, logically lead to the need to fight. The change from the parallel structures in the last line "we must fight!" makes this exclamation stand out and hold power.

20. When a novelist uses an allusion in her story, she encourages readers to ask questions about the novel’s themes and characte
NikAS [45]

Answer:

Provides clues about how the novels conflicts will be resolved

Explanation:

"Allusion is a figure of speech, in which an object or circumstance from unrelated context is referred to covertly or indirectly. It is left to the audience to make the direct connection. Where the connection is directly and explicitly stated (as opposed to indirectly implied) by the author, it is instead usually termed a reference. In the arts, a literary allusion puts the alluded text in a new context under which it assumes new meanings and denotations. It is not possible to predetermine the nature of all the new meanings and inter-textual patterns that an allusion will generate. Literary allusion is closely related to parody and pastiche, which are also "text-linking" literary devices."
