The answer is C. Compound-complex.

A compound sentence is a sentence that contains two or more independent clauses connected by a comma, conjunction or semicolon. An independent clause contains a subject and verb and conforms a complete idea. A complex sentence is a sentence that makes a combination between one independent clause with at least one dependent clause.

In this case, the structure is the following:

<u>Joan was singing because she was happy,</u> and <u>she danced as she sang.</u> Both are independent clauses.

"<u>because she was happy</u>" is a dependent clause, specifically an adverb clause of reason.

Individualism seems to be a dominant part of American culture. Do you think this is a good thing, a bad thing, or some mixture o
Ahat [919]

Answer:

I believe it is a mixture of both because Individualism is a good thing to have and learn but at times it can also make us feel like we have to be self-reliant on ourselves every day of our lives and it can get us really confused on the question of: Am I old enough to handle this? or If I don't learn how to be independent now will this affect me throughout my entire life? It can make us wonder if we are physically ready for life outside "The Home" & may make us think that we only need to be dependent on ourselves, that can also close a lot of trust in people who want to help but we think to ourselves "will this outcome be in vain?" But it also shows us, good things like how we can become our own person apart from our friends and loved ones, this may also make you have more gratitude in yourself for achieving something on your own! To sum it all up: Indvisualisim is a way for us to grow but it is also a thing that makes be more vulnerable to ourselves!

Hope this Helps! <3

Which detail best supports the idea that the people in the future are confused about where the narrator has come from?
alekssr [168]

The detail that best supports the idea that the people in the future are confused about where the narrator has come from is:

I had always anticipated that the people of the year Eight Hundred and  Two Thousand odd would be incredibly in front of us in knowledge, art, everything. Then one of them suddenly asked me a question that  showed him to be on the intellectual level of one of our five-year-old children-asked me, in fact, if I had come from the sun in a thunderstorm.

In The Time Machine by H.G. Wells, we learn of the author and people whom he had built the Time Machine for. They were marveled to see him and wondered where he had come from.

The question from one of the observers shows that the people were confused about where the narrator had come from. He thought that the author had come from the thunderstorm.
