Two long conducting cylindrical shells are coaxial and have radii of 20 mm and 80 mm. The electric potential of the inner conduc

tor, with respect to the outer conductor, is +600 V. An electron is released from rest at the surface of the outer conductor. What is the speed of the electron as it reaches the inner conductor?

Answer:

v = 1.45 × 10⁷ m/s

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

Inner radius of the cylinder, r₁ = 20 mm = 0.2 m

outer  radius of the cylinder, r₂ = 80 mm = 0.8 m

Potential difference, ΔV = 600V

Now, the work done (W) in bringing the charge in to the inner conductor

W = \frac{1}{2}mv^2

where, m is the mass of the electron = 9.1 × 10⁻³¹ kg

v is the velocity of the electron

also,

W = qΔV

where,

q is the charge of the electron = 1.6 × 10⁻¹⁹ C

equating the values of work done and substituting the respective values

we get,

qΔV =  \frac{1}{2}mv^2

or

1.6 × 10⁻¹⁹ × 600 = \frac{1}{2}\times 9.1\times 10^{-31}v^2

or

v = \sqrt\frac{2\times 600\times 1.6\times 10^{-19}}{9.1\times 10^{-31}}

or

v = 14525460.78 m/s

or

v = 1.45 × 10⁷ m/s

(B) first calculate the are of the whole rectangle
Then calculate the area of the two triangles . On top right the height will be 5 ft and the base will be 4 ft
And on the bottom left the height will be 4ft and the base will be 10ft
After calculating the area of two triangles and one rectangle
You need to subtract the are of triangles from the area of the rectangle

And what ever comes will be your answer .

I hope you understood the procedure .

Thanks

A boat leaves a dock and travels 9 miles due north and 12 miles due west. Find how far the boat is from the dock. Type the corre
adelina 88 [10]

Answer:

15 miles

Step-by-step explanation:

Let's say the dock is at the origin on a coordinate plane and each unit is 1 mile. If the boat travels 9 mile due north, that means that we move up from the origin (0, 0) 9 units to point A (0, 9). Now, this boat moves 12 miles due west, so we will go 12 units to the left of (0, 9) to point B (-12, 9). See the attached drawing (sorry for the crudeness).

Notice that this is a right triangle with legs of 9 and 12. That means the distance from the boat to the dock is just the hypotenuse, so use the Pythagorean Theorem: distance = \sqrt{9^2+12^2} =\sqrt{81+144} =\sqrt{225} =15

Thus, the answer is 15 miles.

Hope this helps!

The table shows the results of a survey on people’s favorite fruit. What percent of the people chose strawberry as their favorit
Sphinxa [80]

<u><em>Answer:</em></u>

24.2%

<u><em>Explanation:</em></u>

<u>The percentage of people choosing strawberry can be calculated as follows:</u>

Percentage = \frac{PeopleChoosingStrawberry}{TotalNumberOfSurveyedPeople} * 100

<u>We have:</u>

Number of people choosing strawberry = 15 people

Total number of surveyed people = 17 + 10 + 17 + 3 + 15 = 62 people

<u>Substitute in the above rule to get the percentage as follows:</u>

Percentage = \frac{15}{62}*100 = 24.19 = 24.2%

Hope this helps :)
