An orchard contains 30 apple trees, each of which yields about 450 apples over the growing season. The owner plans to add more

trees, but each new tree will reduce the average yield per tree by about 8 apples over the season. How many trees should be added to maximize the total yield of apples? What would be the maximum yield for the apple orchard for the season?

Answer

given,

apple tree in orchard = 30

yield of apple =  450 apples

yield reduced per tree = 8 apples

number of trees added be x

trees added to maximize the yield = ?

total yield = (30 + x)(400 - 8 x )

T = 12000- 240 x  + 400 x - 8 x²

T = - 8 x² + 160 x + 12000

max will occur when

x = \dfrac{-b}{2a}

x = \dfrac{-160}{2(-8)}

x = 10 (to be added)

maximum yields =  - 8 (10²) + 160 x 10 + 12000

                             = 12800 apple

maximum yield of the orchard is 12800 apple

Orlov [11]
For this case, the first thing we must do is define variables.
 x: amount of time Miguel uses to complete the task.
 y: amount of time Maria uses to complete the task.
 We write the system of equations:
 x + y = 60
 y = (1/2) x
 Solving the system we have:
 x = 40 minutes
 y = 20 minutes

Gregory knows that Triangle A B C is reflected onto Triangle A prime B prime C prime. Which statement about the figures is true?
ziro4ka [17]
Answer: if Gregory draws the segment with endpoints A and A’, then the midpoint will lie on the line of reflection.

Explanation:

Given that a triangle ABC is reflected in triangle A'B'C'

Here reflection is done on a line

If you imagine the line as a mirror then ABC will have image on the mirror line as A'B'C'

Recall that in a mirror the object and image would be equidistant from the mirror and also the line joining the image and object would be perpendicular to the mirror

But note that corresponding images will only be perpendicular bisector to the line

So A and A' only will be corresponding so AA' will have mid point on line

Option 1 is right
