The aim behind the establishment of Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) was to protect human health and environmental health. The Headquartered of this agency is in Washington, DC. The EPA conducts research, environmental projects/assignments and environmental education related works. The powers and programs of this agency are established by the legislation passed by congress.  

The five core functions of EPA are as follows;

1. Prevention of Pollution

2. Risk assessment

3. Research and Development work

4. Regulatory development

5. Environmental education work
