Again, we can use Pythagorean theorem to calculate the distance, but this time, I will show you the way of calculating the distance between two points only by knowing their coordinated, because in this case, we do know the coordinates of the house and of the hospital.

Adam's House, we will call it point A has the coordinates: A(x1, y1) = A(-4, 2)

Hospital, we will call it point H has the coordinates: A(x2, y2) = A(5, 7)

The formula for calculating the distance between these two points is:

Distance = square root of( (x2 - x1)^2 + (y2 - y1)^2 )

Distance = square root of( (5-(-4))^2 + (7 - 2)^2)

Distance = square root of(9^2+5^2)

Distance = square root of(81+25)

Distance = square root of 106

The correct answer is B.square root of 106

What is m, 2/3 × 4/5 = 1/3÷ m
ankoles [38]

Answer:

\frac{2}{3}  \times  \frac{4}{5}  =  \frac{1}{3}  \div m \\  \frac{8}{15}  =  \frac{1}{3m}  \\  \frac{8}{5}  =  \frac{1}{m}  \\ 8m = 5 \\ m =  \frac{5}{8}  \\

What is the answer to this problem? Ignore the work. What is the correct answer?
yan [13]

Answer:

c = 42.5

Step-by-step explanation:

The legs of the triangle are a and b and the hypotenuse is c

Let a be the shorter leg

The hypotenuse is 5 more than the longest leg

c = b+5

The shortest leg is 20

a = 20

We can use the Pythagorean theorem

a^2 +b^2 = c^2

Substituting in what we know from above

20 ^2 + b^2 = (b+5)^2

FOIL  (b+5)^2 = b^2 +5b+5b +25 = b^2+10b+25

400 + b^2 = b^2+10b+25

Subtract b^2 from both sides

400+b&2-b^2 = b^2 -b^2 +10b+25

400 = 10b+25

Subtract 25 from both sides

400-25 = 10b+25-25

375 = 10b

Divide by 10

375/10 = 10b/10

37.5 = b

But we want to find c

c=b+5

c = 37.5+5

c = 42.5
