Hello,

Let's assume x the number
\dfrac{x}{15} + \dfrac{1}{5} = \dfrac{17}{15} \\

 \dfrac{x}{15} + \dfrac{3}{15} = \dfrac{17}{15} \\

x+3=17\\
x=17-3\\
x=14

Sholpan [36]

Answer: 9x-3x and  5x+x

Step-by-step explanation:

1. Brianna's thinking is incorrect because of course, when x is 0, the expression will equal whatever value isn't an x term. To find equivalent expression, you actually need to find which expressions have the same amount of x terms and the same value.

2. Expressions A and C are equivalent.

3. Expression A can be simplified, as you can do 9x - 3x = 6x, so your final expression would be 6x - 4. Expression C can also be simplified with 5x + x = 6x, which can then also be written as 6x - 4. This means both expressions have the same amount of x terms, and the same value, so they are equivalent.

10. On one night, a group of 9 rats carried away 45 kg of food. What is the reduced ratio of rats to food weight
GenaCL600 [577]

Answer:

Number of rats : Food weight = 1 : 5

Step-by-step explanation:

Number of rats in the group = 9

Weight of food carried away by them = 45 kg

Ratio of the number of rats and food weight = \frac{\text{Number of rats}}{\text{Weight of food carried by the rats}}

                                                                          = \frac{9}{45}

                                                                          = \frac{1\times 9}{5\times 9}

                                                                          = \frac{1}{5}

Therefore, Number of rats : Food weight = 1 : 5
