I learned that Ollie and Fletcher McGee’s marriage was troubled. Ollie felt that Fletcherhad taken her youth and beauty away. She continues by asking what the reader thinks isgnawing at her husband’s heart. Ollie answers with “The face of what I was, the face ofwhat he made me!” On the other hand, Fletcher says “She took the pity from my heart,and made it into smiles.” Which means somewhere in the marriage, pity turned into joy.<span>Their marriage crumpled into the rocks and became full of hatred and manipulatio</span>
