Simora [160]

Latin America was all motivated by an interest in acquiring new markets and sources of raw materials.

<h3>What policy did the US take toward China?</h3>

The United States and China inked a bilateral trade deal and restored diplomatic ties in 1979. As a result, trade between the two countries grew quickly, from $4 billion (exports and imports) in that year to nearly $600 billion in 2017.

Thus, the annexation of Hawaii, the open door policy with china, and the construction of the Panama canal in Latin America were all motivated by an interest in acquiring new markets and sources of raw materials.

Which answer best reflects the author's reason for writing Chapter 11 of Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass? 1. to lame
user100 [1]

Answer:

2. To explain why he cannot tell others of the exact method of his escape.

Explanation:

"Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass" is an autobiographical memoir written by a former slave Frederick Douglass. The book/ narrative recounts his own life as a slave and how he escaped and gained his freedom.

The book contains 11 chapters where Douglass takes us through his life from a slave and his experiences until he escaped to New York and got his freedom. Chapter 11, being the last chapter, is where he (Douglass) decided to tell us about his escape but then changed his plans again as he saw it might endanger those slaves who are still planning for their own escapes. He stated <em>"were I to give a minute statement of all the facts, it is not only possible but quite probable, that others would thereby be involved in the most embarrassing difficulties. Secondly, such a statement would most undoubtedly induce greater vigilance on the part of slaveholders than has existed heretofore among them; which would, of course, be the means of guarding a door whereby some dear brother bondman might escape his galling chains"</em>. So, in lieu of the safety of other slaves, he decided not to reveal his methods of escaping.

Thus, the<u> main reason for writing chapter 11 seems to be that Douglass wants to explain why he cannot reveal the exact method of his escape. </u>

Which type of jail holds individuals accused of crimes like trespassing and misconduct
scoray [572]

Answer:

County jail

Explanation:

In most cases, trespass is a misdemeanor.

This means it can lead to penalties of up to six (6) months in county jail and/or a fine of up to one thousand dollars .

Like jail sentences, trespassing fines are dependent on state law and the circumstances of the crime, and laws allow courts to impose a range of fines.

For example, a conviction for trespassing may result in a fine of as little as $25 or as much as $1,000.

The term "county jail" is used for jails maintained to hold prisoners in each of the many county divisions . People may be moved into a county jail immediately after they are arrested, or may later be transferred to a county jail from a local holding cell or detention center.

Which of√2 and 2 is a zero of the polynomial p(X)=x³-2x? why?
Ira Lisetskai [31]

Answer:

p(x) = x³ - 2x

p(√2) = (√2)³ - 2(√2)

= 2√2 - 2√2 = 0

p(2) = (2)³ - 2(2)

= 8 - 4 = 4

Since p(√2) = 0, √2 is a zero of the polynomial

Hope this helps ;D
