The Supreme Court was created in order to rule on laws and settle disputes between different states. The Supreme Court, which is part of the federal government, will also get the power of judicial review thanks to the famous Marbury vs. Madison court case in 1803. This means that the Supreme Court has the power to interpret what the constitution means, allowing them to overrule or get rid of laws made by Congress that are deemed unconstitutional.
