The environment became more polluted as more and more people began relying on factories for business. Another effect that it had was that forests were cut down for more space. Plus, the poor had to either live with other families or on the street due to not being able to support themselves. These environments were very dirty and health hazardous. They usually had to work more than one job to support themselves.
Technology back then evolved faster than society could keep up with. During the Industrial Revolution, there were no laws to regulate wastes and as a result of increased productivity and the constant use of more and more resources resulted in a much greater pollution of the environment. Neighborhoods were crowded and dirty and lacked clean water.
The 19th amendment was passed in 1919 and ratified in 1920; this means American women could actually vote starting 1920 even though the bill was passed in 1919. You had to be 21 years old to vote.
