Political parties are indispensable for the functioning of liberal democracies. However, the political parties of many transitional and developing countries are not functioning well. This fact has led to increasing donor support to political parties. However, due to the political sensitivity of the issue, donors are not supporting political parties directly. There are two indirect methods for party support. One is support for broadening democracy, assuming that this will also strengthen political parties. The other is support to parties via donor country parties and/or party-based organisations. This party-to-party support takes the form either of unilateral support from one party in donor countries to its ‘sister parties', or of bilateral support from several parties to several parties. This paper outlines the modalities, principles and practices of donor support to political parties.

The Haitian people eventually gained independence from France and became the first nation established by former slaves as a result of their struggle. The excesses of that despicable treatment were the very reason for the success of the Haitian Revolution: the treatment of slaves and Mulattoes in Haiti was so terrible that it prompted the most violent and eventually victorious slave insurgency in history. The Haitian Revolution was the first and only slave rebellion that resulted in the creation of a free state governed by non-whites and former slaves, free of slavery. This achievement needs to be remembered as one of history's major transformations in today's culture.

Which of the following was a reason for southern secession? A. choosing Jefferson Davis as leader of the Confederate States B. f
I am Lyosha [343]

The correct answer is: C) familiarity with and disdain for the northern industrial workplace.

Secession and, therefore, Civil War were mainly about the right to own slaves. Slaves were, for the Southerns, the most important "material" in the workplace; their region relied on slave-owning in order to do agrarian work.

The Northerns, however, now were in their way to industrialization, where the work at factories was done by employed immigrants and, thus, they were all for abolishing slavery.
