The Quakers had a particular religious vision and philosophy. They believed that the presence of God exists in each person. They were peaceful and defended human equality. They did not agree with in all matters with the official Church of England, Quakers critized the elaborate religious ceremonies - too reminiscent of those of the Catholic Church -; for these reasons, Quakers suffered persecution in England.
They clearly believed he was to blame for the Depression, and they despised him for bringing them so much misery and suffering. They held him responsible and despised him.
