Answer:

Option D, Allowed scientists to better identify the location of fossils and change prior scientific knowledge

Explanation:

Space technology interventions has allowed scientist to use GIS as a tool for mapping locations rich in underground organic fossils.

Through improvements in GIS imagery, the researchers could in depth evaluate different spatial aspects of an area based on which they can intervene the probability of finding fossils at any location and in some cases may also find the exact or most probable depth at which these fossils lie.

Hence, option D is correct.

Describe one path that a carbon atom could follow through the carbon cycle
yulyashka [42]

Solution:

The carbon cycle is the biogeochemical cycle by which carbon is exchanged between the biosphere, geosphere, hydrosphere and atmosphere of the Earth.

It is based on carbon dioxide (CO2), which can be found in air in the gaseous form, and in water in dissolved form. Terrestrial plants use atmospheric carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, to generate oxygen that sustains animal life.

Thus this is the required path where carbon atom involves in the carbon cycle.

What is the predominant hypothesis for why animals only appeared in the fossil record about 3 billion years after life originate
Lunna [17]

The predominant hypothesis for why the animals needed some 3 billion years to evolve after the life first appeared on the planet is that the conditions were not right for them to appear.

The life on Earth has appeared much earlier that what we normally assume, and also it has not been evolving very quickly, but instead it has been a very slow and gradual process. The reason for that is that the living conditions on the Earth were much different than what are they now, or anytime from the Cambrian period until the present.

The surface was still pretty hot, and there was intense volcanic activity. The composition of the atmosphere was not suitable for animals to appear at all, and in fact it would have been toxic for them. The water too had chemicals in it that were not providing the right conditions for  animals to evolve. It was only after the plants started to appear and managed to make lot of changes in the water, atmosphere, and land, than the animals were able to evolve and develop.
