The idea that Gravity can pull galaxies back together is ludicrous for many physicists, but generally speaking, there are some who believe that the metrical expansion of the universe can reverse at some point. Which would make another big bang, causing more starts and reviving the universe.

Although those ideas exist, most physicists and scientists in general believe that the universe is expending. Even those who believe that it will eventually reverse, also believe that is is currently expending.
