Mathematics

The value of x is 25

Explanation:

From the figure, we can see that DBR is a triangle.

The line QC is parallel to the line BR

We need to determine the value of x.

Since, the line QC is parallel to the side of the triangle BR, then by side - splitter theorem, we have,

\frac{DQ}{QB}=\frac{DC}{CR}

From the figure, we have, the lengths of the sides DQ=40 , QB=24 , CR=15 and DC=x

Substituting these values in the above expression, we have,

\frac{40}{24}=\frac{x}{15}

Multiplying both sides of the expression by 15, we get,

\frac{40\times 15}{24}=x

Simplifying, we get,

\frac{600}{24} =x

Dividing, we get,

25=x

Thus, the value of x is 25

Therefore, the length of DC is 25

Answer:

163216

Step-by-step explanation:

If it's the sign of multiplication

404/4=101

2*2=4*101=404^2=163216

or,

If it's x

(404/4)x(2x2)

(101)x(2x2)

101x (4x)^2

1616x^2

Why do two negatives equal a positive when adding?
alex41 [277]
Two negatives <em>do not </em>equal a positive when adding. If you're in debt and you add more debt, does that get you out of debt?

Two negatives <em>do </em>equal a positive when you're multiplying them together though. This makes sense if you imagine multiplication as squishing or stretching a particular number on the number line. For example, imagine multiplying 2 x 1/2 as <em>squishing </em>the number 2 two times closer to 0. When you multiply 2 by a negative number, say, -1, you squish it so far down that you <em>flip it to the negative side of the number line</em>, bringing it to -2. You can imagine a similar thing happening if you multiply a number like -4 by -2. You squish -4 down to zero, and then <em>flip it to the positive side</em> and stretch it by a factor of 2, bringing it to 8.
