Answer: B. Kate

Explanation: This is because Kim and Kate are identical twins. Identical twins are formed when one fertilizes egg splits to form two individuals. Identical twins, unlike fraternal twins, have the same genetic make up. Although certain environmental factors may trigger different behaviours in identical twins, they are usually both susceptible to the same behavioural expression.

If Kim was put up for adoption and eventually grows up to become a criminal, Kate who is her identical twin is more likely to become a criminal than Eric and Jack whom she was put up for adoption with. This is the nature versus nurture debate and nature(genetics) usually finds expression irrespective of environmental factors.

Explain how an environment's carrying capacity affects the intrinsic rate of increase of a population.
mafiozo [28]

Answer:

Any community, whether stable or not, will never have an infinite number of resources. It will have resources to only feed a certain number of organisms from each species it accommodates. When the population of a species is less than the carrying capacity of an area, then the population of that species will rise abundantly as there will be more resources. But the closer the carrying capacity of a species, the lesser will be the growth rate. If the population if species increases the carrying capacity, then severe competition will begin and the community will become unstable.

Paolo is training for a triathlon, a timed race that combines swimming, biking, and running. Consider the following sentence: Be
GalinKa [24]

Answer:

Many decisions are taken at the margin

Explanation:

Many decision are taken at the margin.

He makes small changes at the margin in the number of hours spent training on each activity.

Paola and his wife both realise that increasing time spend in the pool will decrease his total triathlon time.

His time is fixed (20hrs) and anytime he wants to spend extra on one activity, i means that he cannot spend time on another (this is known as opportunity cost).

They are both on the same page in terms of trying to improve Paolo's total time (exploiting opportunities to makes themselves better off).

1hour switch in Paolo's point of view isa major change, whereas his wife recommends a wholesale change.

Paolo realises that as he spends more time in the pool improving his swim time, his run and cycle times will take a hit. As he swims more, his improvement is likely to slow down, while spending less time on cycling and running will cost him more in terms of time.

Hence Paolo is looking at the margins.

His wife on the other hand, is not, she is ignoring the interaction, may be forgetting the ncreasing deterioration in terms of time of the other 2 legs
