Treaty of Versailles and the break up of the Ottoman Empire--The Ottoman Empire fought on the Central Powers side and with Treaty of Versailles were forced to break up as an empire.
The remaining pieces of the crumbling Ottoman Empire was further broken down and created 3 new countries--Turkey, Iran, and Saudi Arabia. This was done based on religion and ethnic origins to create the three new states.
In exchanging , the United States acquired the vast domain of Louisiana Territory, some 828,000 square miles of land. The treaty was dated April 30<span> and signed on </span>May 2<span>. In October, the U.S. Senate ratified the purchase, and in </span>December 1803<span> France transferred authority over the region to the United States.</span>
Salutary Neglect was when Britain left the colonies alone from 1714-1763 after the Glorious Revolution where William and Mary came to power in England.

It has to be Austria and Hungary - by then they were two separate countries. The other three were Allies and along with britain they occupied Germany in 1945.
