Answer: Her initial emotion was delight and happiness.

At this point in the story, she had not truly developed feelings of care or empathy. Therefore, as she threw the doll to the floor and felt all the pieces, her initial reaction was one of delight and happiness.

Later, as Helen learns the word "doll" and connects it to the object, she begins to feel sadness and regret at having ruined this gift.

What is ironic about claudius' pleasure, when he learns that hamlet wants him to watch the play?
nikklg [1K]
Hamlet suspects that his new step-father; Claudius, has murdered his father to then marry his mother and become King. The play Claudius takes so much pleasure in having Hamlet attend is a recreation of the murder of his father and will show Hamlet the guilt of Claudius by reaction. This all being a plot created by Hamlet himself and the play company.
