Sir Kay told Percival to kill a knight that was bothering King Arthur before he can speak with King Arthur. Percival is a young boy who was raised by his mother in the forests of Wales, UK. He wanted to be a knight so travelled to King Arthur's court when he was teased by Sir Kay. After Percival had killed the knight and taken his vermilion armor, he set out for adventure. He trained with an experienced knight, Gornemant, and ends up rescuing Gornemant's niece.

He had to go to the ford and slay the knight waiting there; he had to return with the knight’s goblet and wear the knight’s armor.

Which statement best describes the subjects of the poems?
tigry1 [53]

The woman in Byron’s poem is gentle; the woman in Poe’s poem is welcoming.

In Byron's poem the speaker uses the words and phrases "mellowed", "serenely sweet", "soft", and "calm" to show the gentleness of the woman. He also at the end says she has "A mind at peace with all below, A heart whose love is innocent!". These all show her gentleness. There is no mention of wealth, youth, or adventure.

In Poe's poem the speaker talks about returning home to Helen and being welcomed by her. He says, "Thy hyacinth hair, thy classic face, Thy Naiad airs have brought me home." He talks about how her traits draw him home. He also goes on to describe the image of her holding a light as to light the way and welcome him home.
