The Battle of Midway took place between the US and Japanese during World War II. This battle in the Pacific theater became a critical US victory. Thanks to the code breaking abilities of the US military, the US was able to anticipate attacks from the Japanese and counter with strong attacks that lead to their victory. This was an important battle for multiple reasons.

1) The US stopped the advance of the Japanese navy in the Pacific theater.

2) This showed the US was strong enough to defeat the Japanese Navy in the Pacific Ocean.

3) This allowed the US to start their offensive attacks, leading to the use of Island hopping as a successful military strategy.
